Penicillin susceptibility data may be used to predict susceptibility to the following antimicrobials:

1.       For NON-MENINGEAL pneumococcal isolates, penicillin susceptible by screen or penicillin MICs of <=0.06 predict susceptibility to: ampicilin (oral or parenteral), ampicillin-sulbactam, cefaclor, cefdinir, cefditoren, cefpodoxime, cefprozil, ceftizoxime, cefuroxime, imipenem, loracarbef, and meropenem.

2.       Pneumococcal isolates with penicillin MICs <=2.0 indicate susceptibility to: amoxicillin, amoxicillin-clavulanic acid, cefepime, cefotaxime, ceftriaxone, and ertapenem.
