Collect sample just after fever spikes.  Send to the Lab as quickly as possible.  Do Not Refrigerate.
Travel history required when ordering.

Multiple specimens for blood parasites are suggested to adequately rule out malaria/Babesia. A single negative specimen does not rule out the presence of blood parasites.

If Trypanasomes or other hemoflagellates are suspected, contact the Parasitology Laboratory (966-4053) for information on specimen collection and timing.
