For Tissue: 3-10 mm of villi from abortus, skin biopsy, etc.
For Products of Conception: 5-10 mm piece of chiorion with VISIBLE villi attached.

Comments

Deliver sample to the Core Laboratory within 24 hours. 

Always call the Cytogenetics Laboratory to inform of sample being sent (919-966-1595).  If the laboratory is closed leave a message that includes your name and phone/pager#, the patient's name and the sample type.

Use sterile technique and close all containers tightly.  Label all containers with patient name, hospital #, date collected, and physician's name.
